The portal itself is operated by the Ministry of Education. This is a free online education platform. On which different institutions offer courses to different subjects. Two new courses to journalism (Journalism Free Courses) have been launched on this portal, which are being offered by INI and Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB).
These courses can be found on the official website You can join by going to. The special thing is that there is no fee of any kind to join these courses. These can be completed in 4 to 8 weeks. You can apply online till February 2026. For this only registration will be required.
Indian Institute of Management Bengaluru is offering a course named “Journalism in the Digital Era”. Till now many candidates have joined it. The studies will be conducted by Professor Dr. Shyamali Banerjee of Jain (Deemed-to-be) University, Bengaluru. It is going to start from January 12. However, the enrollment process has already started. The course will end on 30 April 2026. Students will also be given a chance to get a certificate. An examination will be conducted for this. You may have to pay an exam registration fee of Rs 750. However, there is no fee of any kind for joining or studying the course.
INI is offering a course named “Broadcast Journalism”. Whose studies will be conducted by Dr. Bala Lakhandar, Professor of Banaras Hindu University. This course can be completed in just four weeks. UG and PG level students can join it. It is scheduled to begin on 16 February 2026, concluding on 30 April 2026. After completing the course if a candidate wants to get the certificate then he/she has to appear in the examination. For this, a registration fee of Rs 750 will be charged. However for EWS, OBC- NCL, SC, ST and PwBD candidates the fee is Rs 500.
