Norwich City have confirmed that a fan tragically passed away after Sunday’s FA Cup win over Walsall at Carrow Road. Ambulance services were called to the stadium with the incident understood to have occurred late on in the contest.
The club wrote in a statement: “We are saddened to announce the passing of a home supporter at the conclusion of this afternoon’s FA Cup fixture at Carrow Road. Everyone at Norwich City would like to send their heartfelt condolences to the supporter’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.”
The Canaries went on to add: “The supporter’s family have been informed and the club will now work with the police to provide support at this distressing time.
"The club would like to sincerely thank medical staff stewards and nearby supporters for their efforts to assist during the emergency and will ensure those involved receive the appropriate care.
“Those who witnessed the emergency are encouraged to contact the club if they feel in need of support. Everyone at Norwich City would like to send their heartfelt condolences to the supporter’s family and friends.”

Walsall issued a response, saying: “We are absolutely devastated to hear such tragic news. The thoughts of everyone at Walsall Football Club are with the individual’s family and friends at this most difficult time.”
Norwich secured a routine victory over the League Two side - they had themselves 2-0 up at the break owing to goals from Matej Jurasek and Jovon Makama as they took control of the contest. Makama scored twice within 15 minutes of the second-half to complete a hat-trick.
The visitors hit back through Courtney Clarke, but it was nothing more than a consolation as Tony Springett added a late fifth for the Championship side.
