Tezzbuzz Desk- Indian cricket’s legendary batsman Virat Kohli has once again created history. In the first ODI against New Zealand, 37-year-old Kohli became the fastest to complete 28,000 runs in all three formats of international cricket. He achieved this feat in his 624th innings, breaking the record of Sachin Tendulkar, who had reached this milestone in 644 innings.

Kohli completed this historic run by hitting a brilliant four off leg spinner Aditya Ashok. With this, he has also become the second highest run scorer in international cricket after Sachin Tendulkar.

Along with the record, Kohli also played an important role in the match. He played a brilliant inning of 93 runs in 91 balls with the help of eight fours and one six and laid the foundation of India’s victory. For this strong performance, he was awarded the ‘Player of the Match’ award for the 45th time in his career.

After the match, Kohli recalled his long and successful career in emotional words, saying, “Honestly, if I look at my entire journey, it is nothing less than a dream come true. When I came, I always had confidence in my abilities and I have worked very hard to reach where I am today.”

He further added, “God has given me so much that I have nothing to complain about. There is only gratitude in my heart. I look back on my journey with great respect and pride.”

Regarding his innings and records, Kohli made it clear that he is not thinking about achievements at the moment.
“If I’m honest, the way I’m playing right now, I don’t think about records at all,” he said.

Talking about the strategy, Kohli said that in the run chase he had to play according to the conditions. “If we were batting first, perhaps I would have played faster. While chasing the target, it was necessary to play a little cautiously, but I felt that I could have hit more boundaries.”

Talking about the partnership after Rohit Sharma’s dismissal, Kohli said, “I felt that if I put pressure in the first 20 balls, we can build a strong partnership. This put the opposition team on the backfoot and that proved to be the difference in the match.”

Virat Kohli also shared an emotional glimpse of his personal life. He told that he sends all the personal awards received in his international career of almost 18 years to his mother’s house in Gurugram.

When asked about the increasing number of ‘Player of the Match’ trophies, Kohli smiled and said,
“To be honest, I have no idea. I send my trophies to my mom. She likes to keep them.”
