The case of the death of famous Indian singer Zubin Garg was heard in the Coroner Court of Singapore on Wednesday (January 14). Police said that the singer's death was not a criminal conspiracy but an accident. Investigation found that Zubeen was extremely drunk at the time of the incident. He had jumped into the sea to swim of his own free will and did not even wear a life jacket for safety.
Zubin Garg died of drowning on Lazarus Island under suspicious circumstances on 19 September 2025, just a day before performing at the North East India Festival in Singapore. After this, when he was given another life jacket, he refused to wear it and entered the water without any protection.
According to the investigating officer, Zubin Garg was very drunk at the time of the incident. Many eyewitnesses saw him trying to swim back towards the yacht, but then he became unconscious and started floating face down in the water. Along with this, the court was also told that Ju Bin Garg was suffering from hypertension and epilepsy. He last had an epileptic attack in 2024. Traces of medicines for these diseases were found in his blood, but it was not clear whether he had taken the medicine on the day of the incident or not. Apart from these, no evidence of any other drug was found.
Toxicology analysis revealed that Zubin's blood alcohol content was 333 mg per 100 ml, four times Singapore's legal limit (80 mg). This much alcohol completely affects the body's balance and ability to respond. Police also found a 750 ml bottle of Scotch whiskey from Zubinke's hotel room, which was only 25 percent full.
According to the police, the captain of the yacht testified that at the time of boarding, Zubin was drunk and was unable to walk properly. His two friends supported him.
