An Etihad Airways aircraft encountered turbulence while preparing to land at Phuket International Airport in Thailand on Jan. 14, but none of the passengers on board were injured, airport officials confirmed.

At 11 a.m. local time Etihad Airways contacted the airport’s medical division to report that Flight EY416, arriving from Abu Dhabi, had encountered air turbulence, Nation Thailand reported.

At that time, the airline was uncertain whether any passengers had been injured.

In response, the airport promptly made preparations and coordinated with the Narenthorn Rescue Center and networks to ensure readiness.

Aircraft parking stand No. 15 was prepared, while firefighting and rescue personnel were placed on standby.

Ground staff were also ready to provide immediate assistance to passengers and crew.

The aircraft landed safely at 11:50 a.m., and airport officials later confirmed that none of the 160 passengers on board was injured, Bangkok Post reported

The incident did not affect airport operations.

Prior to the airport’s official announcement, several online outlets reported that passengers might have been injured, citing emergency medical preparations at the airport.

But the Immigration Bureau confirmed that there were no injuries on Flight EY416.

Bureau spokesperson Pongsathorn Pongratchatanon said the Phuket airport immigration checkpoint commander, Rasarin Tirapattharakul, had checked the situation and found all passengers disembarked unharmed, adding that they were transported safely to the terminal by airport buses.
