Voting has been completed today for 29 municipalities of the state in Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Elections-2026. Voting took place for a total of 227 wards in BMC. This time there were 1700 candidates in the electoral fray, whose fate will open tomorrow. On one hand, the enthusiasm of the voters was seen in the elections, while on the other hand, there was a fierce conflict between BJP, Shiv Sena, Thackeray faction and MNS on the issue of ink applied on the finger. While the Election Commission gave clarification on this, BJP also countered the allegations of Thackeray group. Uddhav Thackeray held a press conference and made serious allegations against the State Election Commission.
On the issue of ink, the State Election Commissioner said that the viral video of people erasing the ink applied on their fingers during voting is under investigation. Action will be taken against those spreading rumours. In fact, as soon as voting started, many such videos surfaced on social media, in which people were seen erasing the ink on their fingers with acetone after voting.

The State Election Commissioner said, 'Sure' ink takes time to dry. It should not be erased. Marker ink from Cores company has been in use since 2011. The video of erasing marker ink is being investigated. Only one complaint of fake voting has been received. Action has been taken accordingly.
Congress MP Varsha Gaikwad has posted a video. In this, she is seen using acetone to remove the ink on her finger. Regarding this he asked, is BMC shirking accountability? Many complaints are being received since morning that the ink being used to show the vote mark can be easily erased.
Gaikwad further said, this time the management of BMC elections has raised many questions on accountability and transparency. Money given to voters at the last moment was ignored, names of voters are missing, people are finding it difficult to find names on the Election Commission website. The ink is being erased easily.
