Every year, millions of students across the country, after passing their 12th-grade exams, begin searching for colleges and universities to determine the direction of their future. Some want to become engineers, some doctors, while others want to pursue careers in arts, commerce, or management. At this time, choosing the right college or university is the biggest and most important decision. Regarding this crucial decision, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued an important warning to students and their parents.

The CBSE has clearly stated that before taking admission to any college or university, students must verify its accreditation. The board says that several fake and unaccredited institutions are operating in the country, luring students with big promises and then rendering their degrees worthless. In such cases, students' time, effort, and money are all wasted.

The board explained that every year, many students unknowingly fall prey to fraudulent universities. These institutions attract students with attractive advertisements, low fees, and promises of quick degrees. After completing their studies, students realize that their degrees are neither valid for government jobs nor accepted for further studies at reputable institutions. Considering this risk, the CBSE has issued this advisory on time.

What instructions were given?

The CBSE has instructed all schools to make their students and their parents aware of this issue. This information should be given especially to 10th and 12th-grade students so that they can make the right decision regarding their further studies. The board has said that schools should display this information on their notice boards, share it through their websites and circulars, and discuss this topic openly during parent-teacher meetings.

UGC is also issuing warnings

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has also been continuously warning students about fake universities. Every year, the UGC publishes a list of such fake and unaccredited institutions on its official website. This list contains the names of all institutions that claim to award degrees without proper authorization. The UGC clearly states that degrees obtained from these institutions are completely invalid.
