Steven Smith delivered one of the most memorable overs of the Big Bash League season by completely dismantling Ryan Hadley during the Surge. It began with Smith shuffling across his stumps and flicking a full delivery over deep backward square-leg for six. Hadley tried to adjust his length but missed his mark again, offering a half-volley outside off that Smith calmly stayed back on and lofted over long-on. A low full toss followed, and Smith made no mistake, whipping it over the backward square-leg fence to complete a hat-trick of sixes. The crowd at the SCG was on its feet as Smith showed complete control, reading the bowler early and striking with perfect balance and timing.

The pressure only grew worse for Hadley as a slower full ball was flicked away for a fourth straight six, underlining Smith’s dominance in the middle overs. Hadley then overstepped by a big margin, and Smith punished the no-ball with a precise back-foot cut for four, earning a free-hit in the process. Amid the chaos, Smith still managed to rotate the strike with a couple of runs to sweeper cover, while Hadley’s struggles continued with a wide that summed up the over. It was a ruthless passage of play, filled with calm execution and effortless power, reminding everyone why Steven Smith remains one of the most dangerous batters in pressure chases.
