Oliver Glasner has confirmed he will be leaving Crystal Palace at the end of the season - and captain Marc Guehi is also set to join Manchester City.
The Austrian, whose contract expires at the end of the season, will not be signing fresh terms with the Eagles.
Manchester United are said to be admirers of the 51-year-old and they will seek to appoint a new permanent head coach at the end of the season.
Glasner said ahead of his side's trip to Sunderland after guiding the south London club to FA Cup glory last May: "I already informed the club months ago that I wanted a new challenge.
"I had a meeting in October with Steve Parish. We had dinner and a long talk. I told him I will not sign a new contract for Crystal Palace.
"We agreed it was best to keep it between us, confidentially, and we did for three months. I told the team today. It’s now important to have clarity.
"I don’t want to have this question. We had a very busy schedule. We want the same, me and Steve.
"Steve has no ego. Oliver Glasner has no ego, we want is best for Palace. It’s important to have clarity, this is what the players deserve, this is what fans deserve, that’s why I tell it today."
Meanwhile, England centre-back Guehi is on the verge of joining City. Pep Guardiola's side have upped their interest after losing Ruben Dias, Josko Gvardiol and John Stones to injury and Palace have reluctantly sanctioned a move with Guehi out of contract in June.
It's believed the deal could be worth up to £30m including add-ons. Liverpool struck a £35m agreement with Palace in September on transfer deadline day but owner Steve Parish pulled the plug on the transfer as the club couldn't find a replacement.
Guehi has now played his last game for the Eagles. Glasner added: "My latest understanding is that the deal with Marc is in the final stages.
"I can't confirm the club because it's still not done but the result is Marc won't play for us tomorrow."
