Cervical Cancer Causes: Cancer disease is spreading rapidly these days. These can be of many types. Cervical cancer occurs in women. Every year the month of January is celebrated as Cervical Cancer Awareness Month. Therefore, everyone should know about this deadly cancer of women in this month. Let us tell you that this cancer starts from the cervix and also affects the uterus. Let us know everything about this cancer.
Dr. Puneet Rana Arora, director-gynecologist and IVF expert of CIFAR, Gurugram, says that this cancer starts from the cervix. This is the thin lower part of the uterus, which helps in connecting the uterus to the vagina.
The main cause of cervical cancer is usually long-term infection with certain strains of human papillomavirus, a common virus that is spread through sexual contact.
Doctors say that most infections get cured on their own, but if the germs persist, they start growing abnormally in the cells inside the cervix. If abnormal cells are not identified and treated, they start turning into cervical cancer.
According to the doctor, initially, there are no symptoms of cervical cancer. But when cancer starts spreading, symptoms like abnormal vaginal bleeding, pelvic pain or pelvic pain during intercourse may appear. But these symptoms appear in advanced stage. Therefore, it is important to get screened for cervical cancer.
The cases of cervical cancer among women are increasing rapidly in India because its awareness among the people is very less. Most of the women in the country do not know about the HPV vaccine and hence, they have not even got it administered. Not getting screening done can also increase this cancer.
According to experts, screening is important because it helps in detecting abnormal cervical cell growth in their early stages and helps in treating cancer before it develops. Actually, the initial stage of cancer can be treated easily and in its later stages, success in treatment and prevention becomes difficult.
