Oliver Glasner may be leaving Crystal Palace at the end of the season but the Austrian's availability will not necessarily bolster his chances of landing the Manchester United job.
Glasner, 51, has made a seismic impact at Selhurst Park since taking the reins two years ago. His stock rose significantly when he guided the south London outfit to glory in the FA Cup last season - their first major trophy - and he has been consistently linked with more high-profile jobs in recent months.
With his contract expiring at the end of the season, Glasner has most recently been touted as a top contender to succeed Ruben Amorim when United hire a new permanent head coach in the summer, and the former Eintracht Frankfurt chief dropped a bombshell on Friday when he confirmed he would NOT be signing a new contract with Palace.

However, The i Paper claim that Glasner is behind Thomas Tuchel and Roberto De Zerbi on United's shortlist - even though he would be available without compensation. Part of the reasoning behind that is Palace's recent poor form, with Glasner overseeing a winless run that spanned nine games.
The report goes on to outline that the powerbrokers at Old Trafford are seeking a head coach with Premier League experience; something Tuchel and De Zerbi both have. The Paris Saint Germain boss, Luis Enrique, has also been mentioned, although there are doubts he would attainable.
While speculation over Glasner's future has been rife for months, he revealed that he had informed players on Friday that he would be leaving in the summer. His announcement coincides with the news that Marc Guehi, the Crystal Palace captain, is on the brink of a transfer to Manchester City.
“I already informed the club months ago that I wanted a new challenge,” Glasner said in a press conference ahead of the weekend. “We had a very long talk, and I told him (chairman Steve Parish) I will not sign a new contract.
“We agreed at the time it was the best to keep it between us. It's the best that we could do that and keep it confidential for three months. But now it's important to have clarity, and we had a very busy schedule so that's why we didn't want to talk about it. Steve and I want the best for Crystal Palace.”
