The safest car on the road has been revealed with the vehicle securing an almost "perfect" score in the latest round of testing. Experts at Euro NCAP have revealed that the Mercedes-Benz CLA 250+ AMG Line was the safest model tested in 2025.

The 4-door saloon secured excellent ratings in all for Euro NCAP categories, adult occupancy, child Occupancy, vulnerable road users and safety assist. The model secured a 94% Adult occupancy score, with the Mercedes praised for offering good protection across all critical body areas for both the driver and front passenger.

Euro NCAP explained: "The latest CLA impressed judges with a near-perfect performance in Adult Occupant protection and a class-leading score for Vulnerable Road User safety, thanks to its advanced active bonnet and refined AEB systems. It previously topped the Small Family Car class in 2019."

According to the report, Mercedes-Benz demonstrated that drivers and passengers would enjoy good protection to the knees and femurs of occupants of different sizes. Meanwhile, in the side barrier test, the Mercedes-Benz CLA again provided good protection to all critical areas.

Dr. Michiel van Ratingen, Euro NCAP's Secretary General said: "Euro NCAP names its Best-in-Class cars to help consumers easily identify the highest-performing cars that the organisation has evaluated over the past year.

"2025 has had its challenges, but despite this, it has been pleasing to observe that the car industry has remained committed to improving vehicle safety. Mercedes has a long-standing belief in investing in vehicle safety, so it feels appropriate for the CLA to earn the title of 2025's Best Performer, as well as Best Small Family Car."

The model's vast safety features were also celebrated, with Euro NCAP admitting that the car was fitted with a good autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system. They also touched on the model's direct driver status monitoring system, built to detect driver fatigue and distraction.

Examiners were also impressed by the car's lane support system and speed assistance tool. Prof. Dr. Paul Dick, Director of Safety and Accident Research at Mercedes-Benz AG said: "Our ambition is to not only protect occupants in a MercedesBenz, but all road users.

"To achieve this, we develop and build state-of-the-art safety and assistance systems, which now contributed to this excellent result for the all-new electric CLA by the independent organisation Euro NCAP."
