David Beckham’s former Manchester United teammate John O’Kane has weighed into the family feud by saying son Brooklyn should come before ‘Brand Beckham’. The 26-year-old sent the family into chaos on Monday as he issued a scathing statement on Instagram.
In it, he claimed that his parents had been going to the press with stories, suggesting that they had controlled the narrative around the family. He also suggested that they had been attempting to ‘ruin’ his relationship with wife Nicola Peltz.
Brooklyn also suggested that he had been asked to sign the rights away from his name, while he accused Victoria of ‘hijacking’ the first dance at his wedding and dancing ‘inappropriately’ on him.
Former United star and Beckham’s ex-teammate O’Kane has now picked a side in the feud and claimed that the revelations are not a total surprise to him.

Taking to Twitter, he wrote: “I lived with Beckham for few years.. Let's just say he likes to be in TOTAL CONTROL and was OBSESSIVE on PERFECTION.
“If it took Brooklyn to say this and burn down the so-called perfect family. Brand Beckham should not come before your kids no matter what has happened!!”
Brooklyn’s allegations came amid a lengthy statement posted to his Instagram stories. Within it, he wrote: “My family values public promotion and endorsements above all else.
“Brand Beckham comes first. Family ‘love’ is decided by how much you post on social media, or how quickly you drop everything to show up and pose for a family photo opp, even if it's at the expense of our professional obligations.
"We've gone out of our way for years to show up and support at every fashion show, every party, and every press activity to show 'our perfect family.' But the one time my wife asked for my mum's support to save displaced dogs during the LA fires, my mum refused.
"The narrative that my wife controls me is completely backwards. I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life. I grew up with overwhelming anxiety. For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared.
"I wake up every morning grateful for the life I chose, and have found peace and relief. My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation. All we want peace, privacy and happiness for us and our future family."
