Municipal elections in Maharashtra have been completed and their results have also come out. Now the efforts to elect a mayor have intensified. Before the mayoral elections of 29 municipal corporations including Mumbai, all the parties have started preparations for registration of faction formation. Today Shiv Sena (UBT) will register its 65 elected corporators from Mumbai. This registration will be done with the Commissioner of Konkan Bhawan. All parties are remaining alert to keep the corporators united.
After the Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections, now all eyes are on the election for the post of Mayor. However, Mahayuti has got a clear majority. But, in the remaining 28 Municipal Corporations, the status of many Municipal Corporations remains hung. This is the reason why everyone's eyes are fixed on their elected members.
The results of the civic elections have come out. All the parties are busy making their own equations. This is the reason why all political parties are afraid of sabotage and defection. To avoid this, all political parties have accelerated the process of faction formation. Today in the morning all 65 councilors of UBT Mumbai were taken to Navi Mumbai Kokan Bhawan by bus from Shiv Sena Bhawan Dadar.
According to the information, in the next one or two days, all the political parties along with their newly elected corporators will reach the Konkan Divisional Commissioner's Office (Kokan Bhawan) and register their factions. For this, in the last two days, different parties have held internal meetings and decided the strategy.
The race for the post of Mayor in the Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections has become quite interesting. BJP and Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) together have 118 seats, while 114 seats are required for majority. BJP alone has 89 corporators. In such a situation, 29 corporators of Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) led by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde have come into a decisive role.
According to sources, to save its corporators from trouble, the Shinde faction has accommodated them in a five-starred hotel. Not only this, all other parties are also taking special care to keep their corporators united.
BJP 89
Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) 28
Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction) 65
congress 24
AIMIM 8
MNS 6
Nationalist Congress (Ajit Pawar faction) 3
Nationalist Congress (Sharad Pawar faction) 1
This time, since not a single independent corporator has been elected, the possibility of breaking the corporators of other parties cannot be ruled out. This is the reason why all political parties are giving priority to faction formation to keep their corporators safe.
