Lucknow. The 86th All India Presiding Officers Conference, which became a platform for experiences, dialogue and shared resolution of legislative bodies across the country, concluded in a dignified atmosphere in Lucknow. The strength of democracy, the spirit of keeping public interest paramount and the administrative identity of the changed Uttar Pradesh were clearly visible in the closing ceremony. On this occasion, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh praised the Vision Document – 2047 of Uttar Pradesh and described it as inspiring for all the states.
Addressing the concluding session, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh described the conference as historic and inspiring. He said that the Presiding Officers and legislative functionaries from across the country shared their experiences and innovations, which would prove to be guiding lights in strengthening the parliamentary and democratic processes in future. He said that whether it is the Legislature or the Government, the aim of all is to contribute to the development of the country through dialogue and democratic processes.
Praising Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana, Harivansh said that the Uttar Pradesh government has prepared the vision document of Uttar Pradesh-2047 after extensive deliberations. This document presents a clear framework for development through democratic dialogue and participation. He said that this vision document is an inspiring model for other states also.
The Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha appreciated the initiative of the Assembly Speakers of Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. He said that efforts like increasing the presence of MLAs in the House and making the proceedings of the Assembly accessible to the general public through social media make democracy stronger. He described the experiences and innovations shared by Presiding Officers from across the country as useful in making legislative proceedings more effective.
Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana said in his address that everyone gets direction and strength from the guidance of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Welcoming the presiding officers and representatives from across the country, he said that the legislature is the strongest pillar of democracy.
He said that the legislature consists of representatives elected by the public, whose biggest responsibility is to represent the public interest, take the state forward on the path of progress and convey the expectations of the public to the government.
Satish Mahana said that during the conference, many important suggestions have come from the presiding officers. He said that even though the agendas of all the states are different, the goal is the same – public interest and development.
He urged all the representatives to share the experience of Uttar Pradesh's working culture, administrative model and democratic traditions in their respective states, so that the democratic system can become more powerful across the country.
