Under 19 World Cup: Tanzania 85 all out in 36 overs!

Tanzania was restricted to just 85 runs in the 18th match of the Under-19 World Cup 2026 against Afghanistan at the High Performance Oval on Wednesday. This team could hit only 2 fours in 36 overs. 11 batsmen together could not hit even a single six.

Only 3 batsmen of this team touched double figures. 8 batsmen could not reach double digits, out of which three players failed to even open the account.

In this Group D match, Tanzania’s decision to bat first after winning the toss proved costly. This team could last only 36 overs on the field.

Tanzania got its first blow in 1.4 overs. Acre Pascal Hugo was out after scoring 3 runs in 9 balls. Darpan Jobanputra (0) also walked in the next over. This team had lost the wickets of both its openers by the score of 5.

From here Ayaan Sharif tried to handle the innings with Rehan Atif. Ayaan was out after scoring 8 runs, while Rehan contributed 11 runs to the team’s account.

Agostino Meya Mwamele tried to hold the team together by making a 35-run partnership for the fifth wicket with captain Lax Bakraniya, but the pair broke in 81 balls. Mwamele faced only 14 runs in 49 balls, while Bakrania could only score 10 runs in 46 balls.

For Afghanistan, Nuristani Omarzai took 5 wickets for just 9 runs in 7 overs, out of which 2 overs were maidens. Apart from these, Uzairullah Niazi took 2 wickets for 9 runs. Waheedullah Zadran and Khatir Stanikzai took 1 wicket each.

Tanzania is in fourth place in Group D after losing both its initial matches. This team was defeated by West Indies by 5 wickets, after which Tanzania was defeated by South Africa by 329 runs. After losing their third consecutive match, Tanzania will be out of the race for the next round.
