Following the instructions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mini Ratna company WAPCOS and its subsidiary unit NPCC have saved Rs 100 crore in a year. All this has happened due to a big change in the functioning. These companies under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, which were earlier facing losses and controversies, are now making profits worth crores. Both these companies have saved crores of rupees by improving their financial position, human resource management and operations in just 3 months.
In fact, both the companies strengthened their financial position by expediting the pending payments and recovery of dues. Both the companies have so far recovered the outstanding amount of Rs 484 crore. Apart from this, annual savings of Rs 60 crore have also been made by improving the salary bill. Along with this, along with termination of services of non-technical contract employees, biometric payment system has been implemented. Apart from this, crores have also been saved by vacating rented offices and closing non-profitable offices.
For the first time in the company's history, a rotation policy has been implemented, under which 54 employees posted abroad for a long time were recalled and 200+ employees were deployed on site to complete the projects on time. To increase efficiency, 6 major sectors were created by synergy of 28 technical units. New business worth Rs 2114 crore has been achieved in the last 4 months, due to which the total order book of the company has increased to Rs 11,191 crore by January 2026.
WAPCOS (Water and Power Consultancy Services India Limited) provides engineering consultancy and construction services in water, power and infrastructure sectors while NPCC (National Projects Construction Corporation Limited) also designs infrastructure like power, dams, tunneling, railway-highway transport.
