New Delhi: The International Cricket Council (ICC) Board has rejected the demand of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), in which they had requested to hold their matches in any other country outside India. This proposal was put for voting, in which BCB had to face a crushing defeat. ICC has made it clear that there will be no change in the schedule of the tournament.

Out of total 16 countries voting, 14 voted against Bangladesh’s proposal, while only 2 countries Pakistan and Bangladesh voted in its support. ICC has now clearly told BCB to inform its government about this decision. It has also been warned that if Bangladesh remains adamant on this issue and refuses to play in India, it will be thrown out of the tournament.

According to sources, in such a situation, Scotland can be included in the tournament instead of Bangladesh. ICC has taken a very strict stance regarding this entire matter and a final decision can be taken soon.

The controversy started when Mustafizur Rahman’s IPL contract was terminated, after which the BCB formally requested the ICC to move Bangladesh’s matches out of India. BCB had requested and refused to send the team to India citing security and safety of the players. But now after ICC’s stand, BCB’s arrogance has gone.

Bangladesh had demanded change of group
Under pressure from the Bangladesh government, BCB proposed to change the group with Ireland. Bangladesh is in Group C, where it has to play three matches in Kolkata and one match in Mumbai. Bangladesh wanted its group to be swapped, in such a situation it would have been sent to Group B, the matches of which were to be held in Sri Lanka.
