Scotland in T20 World Cup: A big controversy has been seen before the T20 World Cup 2026, due to which the Bangladesh team is out of the tournament. This matter started due to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) not playing matches in India. BCB had demanded to shift its matches in India to Sri Lanka citing security reasons, but ICC rejected it. ICC had given an ultimatum to BCB that if he did not come to India, then Scotland would be included in his place. Now Bangladesh has decided to withdraw from the tournament. In such a situation, the way has opened for the Scottish team.

What is Scotland's record in the T20 World Cup?

This time the Scottish team could not qualify for the T20 World Cup. Scotland finished fourth in the European qualifiers, but are now ready to enter the tournament. However, till now no announcement has been made by ICC regarding this. But according to the rules, Scotland's place is considered confirmed. If this happens, then she will be seen playing T20 World Cup for the 5th consecutive time.

Scotland's record in the T20 World Cup has not been anything special. He has participated in the tournament 6 times so far, in which he has played a total of 22 matches and won only 7. Apart from this, there has been defeat in 13 matches. His best performance was seen in 2021, when he reached Super 12. Scotland have never progressed beyond the group stage (except the Super 12), but they are considered one of the strongest teams in the Associate Nations. If he is included this time, it will be a big opportunity for him, especially since he has played for Zimbabwe in 2009 also.

Scotland has already had via card entry

Something similar was seen in the year 2009 also, when the tournament was hosted by UK. But relations between Zimbabwe and the UK government were not good, due to which ICC and Zimbabwe together found a way out and in view of the welfare of cricket, Zimbabwe withdrew its name from the tournament. Even then Scotland had qualified as an associate team. However, despite not playing, Zimbabwe received the full amount due for participating in the tournament.
