Patna. The state government has taken an important decision to further strengthen the police system in Bihar. This decision is no less than good news especially for the employees associated with emergency services. Along with the increase in the honorarium of retired army drivers working in Bihar Police, their service period has also been extended.
Now you will get more honorarium
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary informed that the monthly honorarium of ex-military drivers posted in Bihar Police has been increased from Rs 25 thousand to Rs 30 thousand. Apart from this, the government has also decided to give them uniform allowance of Rs 4,000 every year. This decision will not only improve the financial condition of the drivers but will also boost their morale.
One year extension in service period
These drivers were appointed through AWPO Danapur. Earlier their service period was fixed till March 2026, but now it has been extended till the financial year 2026-27. That means they will get an opportunity to serve for one more year. The government will incur an estimated expenditure of more than Rs 161 crore on this service expansion.
Important decision for emergency services
In Bihar, a large number of drivers are required to operate 112 emergency services and other police functions. At present a total of 4426 driver posts are sanctioned under the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) project. The recruitment process and training for thousands of these posts is sure to take time. In such a situation, continuing the services of experienced retired drivers is being considered a practical and necessary step for the government.
Will benefit from experience, focus on police infrastructure also
This retired Army driver is known for his quick decisions and disciplined working style in emergency situations. Considering these qualities, the government has decided to expand their services so that the emergency response time can be further improved.
The state government is continuously working on strengthening not only human resources but also police infrastructure. In recent times, construction of new police office buildings, armories and modern barracks for women police personnel has been approved in many districts. The aim of these steps is to make the police force modern, efficient and more effective for the public.
