Adar Poonawalla has shown interest in buying Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Adar Poonawala, CEO of vaccine manufacturing company Serum Institute of India, has tweeted that he is going to make a big bid for RCB. Earlier in October also he had praised the valuation of RCB.

Poonawala wrote in his tweet on Thursday, ‘I am preparing to make a strong and competitive bid for RCB, one of the best teams of IPL, in the coming few months.’

Let us tell you that only after the title win of IPL 2025, the owners of RCB started the process of selling the franchise. Poonawala’s tweet has come in this context. However, he has not disclosed details like the bid deadline or possible amount. This process will have to be completed soon, because IPL 2026 is proposed to start from March 26.

Who is the owner of RCB?

RCB ended the trophy drought in early June 2025. After this there was a tremendous jump in the brand value of RCB. The owners of RCB want to take advantage of the increased brand value of the franchise and sell it at a higher price. RCB is owned by United Spirits Limited (USL). Its parent company is Diageo.

Homble Films is also in the race…

According to media reports, RCB is worth around $2 billion. Apart from Poonawala, Vijay Kiragandur’s company Homble Films is also considered to be involved in the race to buy RCB. Homble Films is the producer of superhit films like ‘KGF’ and ‘Kantara’. However, Homble Films has not yet issued any official statement in this regard.
