*Warning: Contains spoilers for the latest episode of The Traitors*
Tonight's penultimate episode of BBC game show The Traitors (January 22) delivered a shock exit within moments of it beginning.
Having evaded suspicion amongst the Faithfuls throughout most of the competition, Rachel became Faraaz's target on Wednesday evening. Following a sudden epiphany about eliminated Traitor Fiona seldom engaging in private conversations and having pulled Rachel aside previously, he informed his fellow contestants and Rachel herself that he now believed her to be a Traitor.
Although Faraaz was amongst two names considered by the Traitors for murder, this evening's episode revealed that Stephen and Rachel had actually chosen to murder Roxy in an unexpected twist, thereby casting suspicion upon James.
This came after the Round Table which resulted in Matthew's banishment, with James spearheading the campaign against his fellow Faithful. He had possessed two votes courtesy of receiving the dagger advantage from the Traitors, though his determination to deploy it against Matthew attracted additional mistrust from his co-stars, reports Wales Online.
Upon discovering her elimination at the Traitors' hands, Roxy voiced her hope for Stephen and Rachel to triumph in the show, convinced they were both Faithfuls.
"I'm so proud of myself for getting this far," she said. "I would love for Stephen or Rachel to win. I think they're both amazing people and I think they, hopefully, are being Faithful and honest throughout the process but honestly, it has been a ball."
Despite their agreement not to write each other's names on their slates, Rachel and Stephen decided in the turret that they could no longer defend one another in front of the Faithfuls with so few players remaining.
Stephen was swift to mention Rachel's name to Jack at breakfast in a bid to gain an advantage over his fellow Traitor.
