New Delhi: A Delhi court has acquitted Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national chief and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in two cases filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The federal agency had initiated these proceedings following Kejriwal’s alleged non-compliance with multiple summonses issued during the investigation into the Delhi excise policy case.

The court ruled in favor of the AAP leader, observing that the agency failed to establish sufficient grounds for prosecution regarding the missed summonses. Kejriwal had consistently maintained that the notices were politically motivated and legally flawed, leading him to skip several appearances before his eventual arrest in March 2024.

This legal victory follows Kejriwal's earlier release on bail granted by the Supreme Court in the main money laundering case. The acquittal in these specific complaint cases provides significant procedural relief to the former Chief Minister as he continues to navigate remaining legal challenges.

The judgment is seen as a setback for the ED, which had filed the complaints under Section 174 of the Indian Penal Code for intentional disobedience of orders from a public servant. Supporters of the AAP have welcomed the decision, citing it as a validation of their stance against the misuse of central investigative agencies.
