Udaipur: A major fire incident was reported at a gaming zone operating under the jurisdiction of the Sukher Police Station in Udaipur, causing extensive damage to property and infrastructure. The incident occurred on Friday afternoon in January 2026 and led to panic in the surrounding area. Fortunately, no injuries or loss of life were reported, bringing some relief amid the destruction caused by the blaze.

According to initial reports, the fire erupted suddenly in the afternoon hours when the gaming zone was closed or sparsely occupied. Thick smoke and flames were seen rising from the premises, alarming nearby residents and shop owners. The exact cause of the fire has not yet been officially confirmed, and authorities have begun preliminary investigations to determine whether electrical faults or safety lapses were involved.
Sukher Police Station officer Ravindra Charan confirmed the incident while speaking to news agency ANI. He stated that information about the fire was received around 4 pm. While no casualties were reported, the damage to the property was described as severe. Police teams immediately reached the site and coordinated with fire services to manage the situation and control public movement in the affected zone.
Multiple firefighting units were rushed to the location to contain the blaze. Additional fire engines were also called in from nearby areas due to the intensity of the fire. Firefighters faced difficulties in dousing the flames as the gaming zone reportedly contained flammable materials and electronic equipment, which further fueled the fire. After sustained efforts, the fire was brought under control, preventing it from spreading to adjacent buildings.
In a separate but related incident earlier in Rajasthan, a major tragedy was narrowly avoided in Bundi district. A private school van caught fire outside the Bundi district collectorate, creating chaos and fear among bystanders. Thanks to the alertness of local residents and the quick thinking of the driver, all children travelling in the van were safely evacuated before the fire intensified.
Further details revealed that the school van was carrying students home after school hours and was fitted with an LPG gas cylinder. Such installations are considered highly unsafe for passenger vehicles, especially those used for transporting children. The presence of LPG significantly increases the risk of fire and explosions, raising serious concerns about compliance with transport safety norms and regulations.
Both incidents have once again highlighted the urgent need for strict fire safety audits and enforcement of safety standards across commercial and transport sectors. Authorities are expected to review safety measures, issue notices where required, and ensure that preventive steps are taken to avoid such incidents in the future.
