Rohini: Hours before the Rashtriya Janata Dal held its national executive meeting in Patna, a sharp internal disagreement surfaced within the party. Rohini Acharya, daughter of party president Lalu Prasad Yadav, publicly alleged that the real control of the organisation has moved away from its founding principles. Her comments have added fresh intensity to ongoing debates about the party’s leadership, direction, and ideological commitment.

Rohini Acharya claimed that the party’s decision-making power is no longer with those committed to its original ideology. According to her, individuals working against the core values of the organisation have gradually gained influence. She described them as infiltrators and conspirators whose primary aim is to weaken the political philosophy known as Laluvad, which has traditionally focused on social justice and the empowerment of marginalised communities.
She argued that instead of addressing legitimate concerns, those currently holding responsibility tend to deflect questions or deliberately create confusion. In her view, honest introspection is urgently needed if the party wants to regain public trust and organisational strength.
Acharya further alleged that party members who openly speak in favour of Laluism and long-term party interests are often subjected to disrespectful behaviour. She suggested that constructive criticism is being discouraged and that silence from senior leadership on these issues raises serious doubts. According to her remarks, such silence indirectly strengthens suspicions of complicity with those allegedly undermining the party from within.
She maintained that a political organisation built on struggle and sacrifice cannot afford to ignore internal dissent, especially when it comes from individuals genuinely invested in its ideological future.
This is not the first time Rohini Acharya has questioned the current state of the RJD. She reiterated that anyone who sincerely carries forward the legacy and ideology of Lalu Prasad Yadav has a moral responsibility to question decisions that have led to the party’s decline. She added that raising concerns about questionable roles within the organisation is necessary, regardless of personal or political consequences.
Her statements underline a broader concern among supporters who believe the party has drifted away from its foundational goals and grassroots connection.
Following the party’s poor performance in the Bihar Assembly elections last year, Acharya had made an emotional announcement about stepping away from politics and distancing herself from her family. In a public post at the time, she claimed that certain senior figures within the party had pressured her into taking that step, while she accepted full responsibility for the fallout.
Despite these tensions, she later appeared actively campaigning during the Assembly elections, indicating a complex relationship with both the party and its leadership.
The RJD’s recent electoral record has intensified internal scrutiny. In the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, the party’s seat count dropped dramatically to 24, compared to 75 seats in the previous term. This significant decline has raised questions about leadership strategy, organisational cohesion, and voter confidence.
Rohini Acharya’s latest remarks come at a time when the party is already facing pressure to reassess its approach and reconnect with its core support base. Whether her comments lead to meaningful internal dialogue or deepen existing rifts remains to be seen.
