A case initially reported as a suicide following an attempted attack on the father has taken a dramatic turn in Ramakunja village of Kadaba police station limits, with allegations now emerging that the father killed his 17-year-old son and later injured himself.

The incident occurred on Saturday evening (January 24) at Pade in Ramakunja village. Vasanth Amin (50) was found with stab injuries, while his son Mokshith (17) was found dead with a gunshot wound. Early reports suggested that the son had stabbed his father and then shot himself dead.

According to police sources, Vasanth Amin, who had purchased agricultural land and was residing in an old house on the property at Pade, had called acquaintances on Saturday evening claiming that his son had stabbed him and later shot himself with a gun. When the acquaintances reached the house, they found Vasanth Amin seriously injured and Mokshith lying dead with a gunshot wound. Vasanth Amin was later shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru for treatment.

However, the case took a new turn after a complaint was lodged by Jayashree, the wife of Vasanth Amin and mother of the deceased. In her complaint to the police, she alleged that her husband had murdered their son. She stated that the Ramakunja property was in her name and that her husband had been pressuring her to transfer it to his name, which their son had opposed.

Jayashree further stated that due to differences over the property, she had been living at her parental home in Perla, Kasaragod district, along with her only son. About a month ago, her husband allegedly brought the boy to Ramakunja. She also claimed that on Saturday, Vasanth Amin had taken Mokshith to Mangaluru on the pretext of medical treatment and that the boy had called her, saying that if anything happened to him, his father would be responsible.

The death of the teenager after returning to Ramakunja with his father has raised several suspicions. Police have said that the exact sequence of events will be known only after a detailed investigation.

Additional Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar S. Bhumareddy visited the scene and conducted an inspection. Rural Circle Inspector Nagaraj and Kadaba PSI Jamburaj Mahajan were also present.
