Gmail inbox problem

In today’s digital age, emails have become an important part of our daily lives. Bank alerts, office mail, receipts from online purchases, and social media notifications all land in the Gmail inbox. But when these important emails are filled with thousands of promotional emails, newsletters and offer messages, it becomes difficult to find the important emails and Gmail’s storage also starts filling up quickly.

Ways to delete unnecessary emails

If your Gmail inbox is also filled with unread mails, there is no need to worry. Using Gmail’s smart search and filter features, you can delete unnecessary emails altogether in just a few clicks. Let us know about these simple methods.

Get rid of emails with unsubscribe tag

Marketing and promotional emails often include an ‘Unsubscribe’ option. Recognizing such emails is easy in Gmail. Type ‘Unsubscribe’ in the Gmail search bar and press Enter. This will give you all the emails that contain the unsubscribe link.

Now select all emails by clicking on the checkbox at the top-left. Then click ‘Select all conversations matching this search’ and press the trash icon. Hundreds of unnecessary mails will disappear from your inbox in just a few seconds.

Clear the Promotions and Social tabs

Gmail has separate tabs named Promotions and Social. These tabs mostly contain advertisements, offers and non-essential notifications. To clear these tabs, go to the respective tab, click on the ‘Select All’ checkbox and then select the delete icon. This will make your main inbox more organized.

Delete emails from specific sender

If emails from a particular company or person are bothering you, they can also be deleted altogether. Type ‘from’ or the sender’s name in the Gmail search bar. This will give you all the emails to that sender. Select all mails and click the trash icon. This method is helpful in getting rid of unnecessary recurring mails.

Delete emails by date

Sometimes old emails just take up storage. In such a situation, you can also delete emails on the basis of date. Type commands like ‘before:2025/01/01’ or ‘after:2042/01/01’ in the Gmail search bar. This will surface emails from a specific time period. You can then select them and trash them with one click.

Recover accidentally deleted emails

Don’t worry if an important email gets accidentally deleted while cleaning. Deleted emails in Gmail are not immediately erased forever. All these emails first go to the Trash folder, where they remain safe for 30 days. Within this period, you can bring your important emails back to your inbox by going to the trash folder.

Clear inbox, better productivity

An organized Gmail inbox not only gives peace of mind but also increases work productivity. By using these simple tricks from time to time, you can always keep your Gmail organized and storage-friendly.
