Swiggy has launched a new and unique service in India, under which users can now order food and grocery directly through AI chatbots like ChatGPT. With this, they will not need to change apps or scroll menus again and again. All they have to do is give instructions to the chatbot in their own language, like, ‘Want to order a highly rated biryani’ or ‘Need ingredients to make Thai green curry’. Along with this, table booking in restaurants through Swiggy Dineout will also be possible through AI chatbot.
After this new service, ordering food will become much easier. The AI assistant will automatically perform all the tasks that usually take the most time. These include exploring options, comparing items, creating a cart, applying coupons, verifying addresses, placing orders, and even tracking orders. According to Swiggy, this AI will automatically pull the address and payment details from your account and process the order as soon as it receives confirmation.
Consumers can order over 40,000 products on Swiggy Instamart through AI integration. This includes items of daily use, groceries and essentials. The company claims that Instamart is the world’s first quick-commerce platform to use such AI technology. This will not only save time but will also make shopping easier.
The technology behind this AI service is called Model Context Protocol (MCP). It is an open-source framework that provides the ability to connect AI assistants directly to live services in a secure manner. This means that they are not limited to just answering questions, but can automatically perform many tasks for you.
Some simple steps need to be followed to connect AI to Swiggy. This feature is available through AI assistants like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Cursor.
