Post Lunch Slump: It is often seen that after lunch, the body’s energy suddenly drops and it becomes difficult to concentrate on work. In medical language it is called post-lunch slump. To solve this problem, some special superfoods can be included in the diet.

Be it office or home, we often start feeling tired and lazy between 2 to 4 pm. Many people resort to tea or coffee again and again to overcome this but this is a temporary solution. What you eat for lunch decides how your afternoon will be.

Why do you feel lazy in the afternoon?

When we eat food containing large amounts of carbohydrates or sugar, the blood sugar level in the body increases rapidly and then falls equally rapidly. Due to this sugar crash, we start feeling tired.

Superfoods to get rid of lethargy

Fiber-Rich Whole Grains: Choose brown rice, oats or porridge instead of white rice or flour. These are digested slowly and provide energy to the body for a long time so that there is no sudden drop in energy.

With protein: Be sure to include dal, cheese, egg or chicken in your lunch. Protein keeps the stomach full and helps in keeping the sugar level stable.

Curd or buttermilk: Curd rich in probiotics not only helps in digestion but it also helps in keeping the brain active. A glass of salted buttermilk with lunch keeps fatigue away.

Nuts and seeds: If you still feel hungry after lunch, eat a handful of almonds, walnuts or pumpkin seeds instead of unhealthy snacks. The healthy fats present in these keep the brain alert.

Hydration is important: Many times the real cause of fatigue is lack of water. Drink enough water in the afternoon. If you want, you can also take lemon water or coconut water.

After lunch, instead of sitting at your desk, take a brisk walk for 5-10 minutes. This increases blood circulation and provides oxygen to the brain, which makes you feel fresh immediately. Apart from this, avoid eating too much sweets in lunch as it is the biggest cause of lethargy.
