Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said that the steps taken under the education revolution of the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann are yielding positive results. The overwhelming support received for admission to Schools of Eminence (SOE) and Residential Schools for Meritorious Students (RSMS) is a clear testimony of the growing confidence of students in the education in government schools.
The Education Minister said that more than 2 lakh students have registered for admission to classes 9 and 11 in these prestigious institutions, competing for about 20,000 available seats. He said that such a large number of registrations compared to the available seats. Punjab It reflects the confidence of parents and students in the quality education provided in government schools of India.

Harjot Singh Bains said that at present there are 118 schools of eminence and 10 residential schools in the state, where applications have been invited for admission for the academic session 2026-27.
Giving details of the availability of seats, he said that a total of 4,248 seats are available in Schools of Eminence for Class 9, with 36 seats per school, while 50 seats are currently available in residential schools for meritorious students.
Similarly, for class 11th, 11,187 seats are available in School of Eminence. He said that the total sanctioned admission seats for class 11th are 15,104, out of which 3,917 class 10th students studying in School of Eminence will be promoted under these seats in class 11th. Additionally, 4,600 seats are available in residential schools for meritorious students for Class 11 admission.

Talking about the status of registration, the Education Minister said that 93,300 students have registered for admission to class 9, out of which 74,855 applications have been successfully submitted. Similarly, so far 1,10,716 students have registered for class 11th, out of which 92,624 applications have been successfully submitted.
Appealing to the students and parents to complete the admission process, Harjot Singh Bains said that the entrance examination will be conducted on March 1, 2026. He said that other details related to admit cards and examination centers will be shared through official channels in time.
