Brooks Koepka will make his long-awaited return to the PGA Tour with an appearance at the Farmers Insurance Open on Thursday. The American golfer left the PGA in 2022 to join the newly formed LIV Golf tour, winning the PGA Championship and becoming the first person to win a major championship after deferring to the fresh circuit.

After three years with LIV, where he won multiple tournaments, the 35-year-old announced in December 2025 that he would be returning to the tour that helped him claim four major titles in his career. Speaking on his return to PGA, Koepka said: "Maybe I'm a little nervous about that as well, just to see, I guess, how the fans respond to it. I hope that they're excited. I hope that they're happy that I'm out here. You know, hopefully that goes, at least like the conversations I've had with players, that they're excited that I'm back and happy to see me play."

Koepka admitted that there was only one person he was going to look to for advice on making a comeback - 15-time major winner Tiger Woods. He said: "I think the 23rd [of December] I was released and then called Tiger right away, then that process got the ball rolling.

"I've always had a good relationship with Tiger. That was what I wanted to do once I had the opportunity to, I guess, get reinstated on the PGA Tour. It was exciting and I kind of really didn't know what to do. That was the first person that kind of came to mind."

He added: "I didn't know [the new PGA Tour commissioner] Brian [Rolapp], I didn't have a relationship with him obviously just because he's pretty new and Jay [Monahan, the previous incumbent] was going to be the next call.

"I felt like Tiger was somebody that I've relied on in the past for questions and answers and how to deal with things and I felt like that was maybe the most comfortable call for me."

The American previously confessed he missed playing against Rory McIlroy during the 2023 Masters - two years before the Northern Irishman would go on to make history by winning his first green jacket and the career Grand Slam of golf. Discussing his friendship with the iconic golfer, Koepka said: "I'm looking forward to it, just to see everybody and compete against them.

"Because at the end of the day, I'll be honest, I do miss playing against Rory, I do miss playing against Scottie, and I'm sure they miss playing against us, as well. That's a fact; you always want to play against the best. That's going to make Augusta even more special."

This high praise of Woods and McIlroy highlights just how much thought went into Koepka's decision and his excitement to return to the PGA Tour in 2026.
