Tata Memorial Hospital Launches State-of-the-art Digital Mammography System with AI Technology!

With early and accurate diagnosis being the key to effective treatment in the face of increasing number of breast cancer patients, Tata Memorial Hospital has implemented a state-of-the-art digital mammography system equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Ashwini Bhide (IAS), Additional Chief Secretary, Chief Minister’s Office inaugurated this state-of-the-art machine on Republic Day. On this occasion the Director of Tata Memorial Center Dr. Dr. Sudeep Gupta, Director, Tata Memorial Hospital. C. S. Dr. Pramesh, Head of Radiodiagnosis Department. Senior medical experts and staff were present along with Suyash Kulkarni. The new digital mammography system has a powerful combination of tomosynthesis and AI technology. With this technology, even the most subtle changes in the breast can be clearly captured. Difficulties in diagnosis especially in women with dense breast tissue will be greatly reduced due to this system. AI-based analytics will reduce the chances of human error and make inspections more reliable.

Speaking at the inauguration, Ashwini Bhide said that it is the need of the hour to reach the advanced medical technology to common citizens. Inclusion of such advanced systems in public health institutions like Tata Memorial would enable early diagnosis and make treatment more effective, he noted. He explained that timely diagnosis of diseases like breast cancer is crucial to save lives and in that regard this device is an important step. Tata Memorial Center Director Dr. Sudeep Gupta highlighted the importance of regular screening and early diagnosis in the treatment of breast cancer. He said the new AI-based mammography system would make the screening process more accurate and allow patients to start treatment earlier.
