New Delhi: In the year 2025, Apple’s dominance on the global smartphone market has become stronger. According to a new report by Counterpoint, 7 of the world’s top 10 best-selling smartphones are iPhone models. These figures clearly show that Apple’s hold in the premium segment is now stronger than before.
The surprising thing is that no Chinese smartphone brand has been able to enter this year’s top-10 list. Along with Apple, Samsung was the only brand which made it to this list through three smartphones of its Galaxy series.
According to the report of Counterpoint, iPhone 16 remained at number one in the list of Global Top-10 Best Selling Smartphones 2025. After this, iPhone 16 Pro Max and iPhone 16 Pro are included in second and third place respectively.
iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 17 also performed well in terms of sales and made their place in the top-10. Overall, 7 iPhone models of Apple captured this list.
According to the report of Counterpoint, the best selling smartphones in the year 2025 will be as follows –
These top-10 smartphones contributed about 19 percent to the total global smartphone sales in the year 2025.
According to Counterpoint’s research analyst Harshit Rastogi, Apple has further strengthened its position in the top-10 ranking. The iPhone 16 series not only remained at the forefront, but also increased the sales gap from other smartphones.
It was reported in the report that the iPhone 17 series got about 16 percent more sales than the previous series in the first quarter after its launch. Its demand remained very strong in big markets like America, China and Western Europe. The base iPhone 17 model was said to be this year’s standout performer.
The important changes made in iPhone 17 compared to iPhone 16 had a direct impact on its demand. The company increased the refresh rate of the display and added a center stage selfie camera.
Apart from this, the base storage was increased from 128GB to 256GB, giving better value to the users. The RAM and performance upgrades brought the iPhone 17 closer to the Pro model, which led to a sharp jump in its sales.
Samsung also registered its strong presence in the top-10 list. Galaxy A16 5G becomes the best-selling Android smartphone of the year 2025. The balance of hardware and software made it very popular among users.
Galaxy S25 Ultra remained included in the top-10 for the second consecutive year. According to the report, its market share in Japan increased more than three times, while double digit growth was recorded in India.
Experts believe that in 2026, memory shortage will have a greater impact on entry and mid-segment smartphones. In such a situation, the share of flagship and premium smartphones may increase further.
