New Rules From February 1st, 2026: The beginning of February brings several new rules and price changes. Rules related to LPG, FASTag, banking, and travel will affect your wallet.

Every month, the government introduces changes in several areas. The first morning of February also brings several impactful changes. Fluctuations in the prices of several commodities, adjustments in banking rules, and relief in the FASTag process.

From February 1st, 2026, commercial LPG cylinders have become more expensive. The price of a 19 kg cylinder has increased by approximately Rs. 50, and the new price in Delhi has reached Rs. 1740.50.  The good news is that there is no change in the price of domestic gas cylinders. This increase may affect businesses such as hotels, restaurants, and catering.

New excise duty and health cess have been implemented on tobacco products. Long and filter cigarettes, gutkha, and paan masala will now be more expensive. The government's aim is to reduce health risks and increase tax collection. This will directly impact the pockets of those who use these products.

Luxury goods imported from abroad may become more expensive. Customs duty is likely to increase on premium smartphones, expensive watches, and imported cars. Changes in the prices of these products may be seen after the budget announcements. If you are planning to buy, be sure to check the new prices.

Aviation turbine fuel has become cheaper. This will reduce the costs for airlines, and flight ticket prices may soften in the coming days. This is good news for those planning to travel, especially on domestic routes, where a reduction in fares is expected.

Made-in-India electronics will receive a boost. The reduction in duty on mobile parts may make domestically manufactured smartphones and tablets cheaper. This will support local manufacturing, and customers are likely to get devices at better prices.

The process for FASTag has been simplified. Now, repeated KYC paperwork will not be required for new FASTag accounts. This responsibility will lie with the banks, relieving users of this hassle. Additionally, some banks have made changes to their credit card benefits and issued alerts to customers with pending KYC verification.
