Gautam Adani's company Adani will now start work related to helicopter manufacturing in the coming days. Because the company has signed an MoU with Italy's leading defense company Leonardo. To give new strength to helicopter manufacturing in India, Adani Defense and Aerospace and global defense company Leonardo have entered into a strategic partnership. Both the companies have signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for this.
Under this partnership, a complete system of helicopter design, manufacturing and maintenance (MRO) will be developed in India. Its main focus is to meet the growing needs of the Indian Armed Forces. Especially for Leonardo's AW169M and AW109 TrekkerM helicopters, production and support system will be prepared in the country.
According to the companies, in this project the emphasis will be on gradual indigenization, pilot training and strong supply system. In future, this system can also be used for civil helicopter needs and international supplies. According to Adani Defense and Aerospace, this partnership is a big step towards making India self-reliant in the field of helicopter manufacturing and will create new opportunities for high-skilled jobs in the country.
In the coming 10 years, the Indian Armed Forces will require more than 1,000 helicopters and this partnership will help in meeting that demand within the country. According to Gian Piero Cutillo, MD of Leonardo Helicopters, working together with the Indian defense company is an important step towards providing modern technology and global level capability to the Indian helicopter industry. This partnership is being considered an important step towards self-reliant India, which will strengthen both India's defense power and industrial capacity.
