Stunning photographs shared on Reddit offer a glimpse into a deserted US motel that shut its doors following hurricane damage. The striking property is completely painted in turquoise, both externally and internally.

The Reddit user uploaded several snaps of the location, commenting: "Pretty much nothing there but cool to see." The shots reveal rubbish scattered across the car park, whilst interior photographs suggest the building remains in relatively decent condition.

Despite scattered bedding, cushions, and debris littering one hallway, large portions of the building appear much as they would have during its operational days. A photograph captured inside a guest bedroom displays two mattresses on twin beds, both appearing to be in great condition.

The room's interior walls are decorated in a beige tone, enhanced by walnut furnishings including bed frames and a writing desk. A small microwave within the room is exactly the same turquoise colour as the motel itself, reports the Mirror US.

Images seemingly captured from the rooftop showcase the surrounding area, whilst another photograph taken in the car park reveals a modest amount of graffiti on one exterior wall. An additional shot from an upper-floor balcony displays the word 'BLAST' emblazoned in oversized lettering on another part.

Another snap reveals what looks like a reception area, captured through a window. Brochures for nearby tourist spots sit in a rack beside the door, whilst a water bottle rests atop a cabinet. Ceiling fan lights and wall fixtures remain illuminated, though one upper window has been boarded up with chipboard.

A further image displays what seems to be a storage room, complete with a cleaning trolley and a substantial heap of bags that look to contain laundry.

Reddit users commenting on the post pinpointed the venue as the Makai Beach Resort in Ormond Beach on Florida's east coast. According to updates on the business's Facebook page, the property sustained "significant damage" when Hurricane Milton battered the state in October 2024, and hasn't reopened since. An article published this week in the Orlando Business Journal revealed the site is now on the market for $13 million (£9.5 million).

One Reddit user commented: "Looks like a nice place. I always wonder why places like this have been abandoned. This in particular looks like they kind of just up and left."

The original poster responded: "Yea the rooms look untouched. I took these in August so I'm guessing hurricanes or something got it."

Another user replied to this: "Mould. Once it becomes too expensive to remove, there aren't many options."

Other commenters lamented seeing a seemingly sound structure left to decay. One remarked: "I will never understand why they just abandon places like this. This property could have been turned into small studio apts or low income rentals instead of being left to rot."

Another said: "Looking at pic #2 hurts my heart - imagine being unhoused, having to take shelter in an awkward nook with a bare mattress on the concrete... Meanwhile there are dozens of empty rooms, just on the other side of a locked door."

Former guests also shared their memories of the establishment. One recalled: "Holy s***, I used to stay at that hotel every time I was in that area in the mid 00s."

Another reflected: "Wow, I spent a few nights here as a child. This is insane to see it dead and abandoned. Knew exactly where you were when I saw the first pic, had to do a double take!"
