What to eat during Mahashivratri fast?

Different types of fruits can be eaten during Mahashivratri fast. Sabudana khichdi or vada can be eaten by fruit lovers during their fast. Roti or paratha made from water chestnut flour can also be eaten. Makhana kheer, roasted makhanas, milk, curd, cheese and dry fruits can also be consumed during the fast.

What not to eat during Mahashivratri fast?

Do not eat grains i.e. wheat, rice and other grains during Mahashivratri fast. On this day, avoid consuming tamasic food like onion and garlic, meat, alcohol and other tamasic foods.
