Tucked away in the West Yorkshire countryside, mere moments from the iconic setting of Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights and the thriving town of Halifax, lies the magnificent Holdsworth House.

Recently playing host to Hollywood stars Jacob Elordiand Margot Robbie - who are set to portray Heathcliff and Cathy in Emerald Fennell's highly anticipated adaptation of Wuthering Heights- Holdsworth House whisks visitors back to an era of exceptional elegance.

Crackling log fires and low, shadowy beams characterise this property, which traces its origins to the 13th century when it began life as a modest cluster of barns. Today, it stands as a magnificent retreat, providing exquisite cuisine, fine beverages and impeccable hospitality.

Holdsworth House served as a sanctuary for the cast and crew during filming, providing respite from the harsh moorland winds as they worked to bring Brontë's masterpiece to cinema audiences.

As a devoted admirer of Wuthering Heights since first discovering it aged 14, I seized the opportunity to experience Holdsworth House when Airbnb and Warner Bros extended the invitation. From the instant I cracked open that book decades ago, I found myself swept away to Brontë's cherished windswept moorlands, reports Yorkshire Live.

Since then, I've made this region my residence and frequently explore the surrounding trails, pondering whether I'm treading the very same ground as Cathy and Heathcliff from Brontë's timeless tale. Upon my arrival, I was welcomed with beaming faces and assistance from staff members who escorted me to my luxurious quarters.

Bathed in natural light, with a vista overlooking a hillside and a bare tree that wouldn't seem amiss in the pages of Wuthering Heights, I unwound before being whisked downstairs for a charming afternoon tea, accompanied by prosecco (or a mocktail for those who preferred).

Freshly-baked scones and delicate yet flavoursome cakes graced the table, serving as a prelude to the main attraction: an opportunity to glimpse a recreation of Cathy's chamber from the estate. Satisfied with cake, I strolled across the grounds of Holdsworth House towards a barn, covered my footwear with plastic coverings, and stepped inside.

I was met by a shadowy, burgundy velvet chamber. Echoing the palette Fennell seems to have selected for the eagerly-awaited film.

Two doorways were thrown open, unveiling Cathy's quarters as they would have appeared at Thrushcross Grange. I felt as though I had been whisked away into one of literature's most legendary bedchambers.

At initial inspection, nothing appears amiss. Yet upon closer examination, you'll spot something rather sinister lurking beneath the surface.

The sumptuous pink walls feature pale blue streaks cascading downwards, creating the illusion that you're encased within veins flowing towards a pulsating heart. Another breathtaking touch manifests through the trio of possible identities belonging to our protagonist - Catherine Earnshaw, Catherine Linton and Catherine Heathcliff - etched yearningly upon the windowpane.

I found myself aching alongside poor Cathy as dusk descended over the rolling hills beyond.

If you're a Wuthering Heights head like me, then you're in luck. Cathy's room has been listed on Airbnbfor couples. However, stays are very limited. Requests to book can be madefrom 12pm on February 20. Three lucky winners will be chosen to live their own Wuthering Heights dream. But fear not. If your name isn't picked out of the hat, you can still stay at Holdsworth House - just in one of the slightly more normal rooms.

Once I'd spent sufficient time embodying Cathy, we returned to the principal residence, where a vibrant banquet awaited us, plucked directly from the motion picture. Next came an inspection of the quarters where Mr Elordi, otherwise known as Heathcliff, resided.

An opulent, sage-coloured settee positioned before an expansive bed adorned with crimson and rose cushions - yet another tribute to the film.

Whilst the seasoned staff remained predominantly reserved, I'm delighted to confirm that the celebrities proved exceptionally amiable throughout their visit. Any Wuthering Heights-inspired adventure wouldn't be truly complete without venturing to Haworth.

Having never explored this charming village after dark, I was thrilled to discover how the typically busy Main Street transformed once evening fell. I'm delighted to confirm it's just as enchanting when bathed in gentle twilight.

The village's evening centrepiece is The Hawthorn - a beloved local watering hole rich with heritage. This welcoming tavern resembles something of a time machine, proving far more spacious within than its exterior suggests.

I selected an Amaretto Sour before settling on a sirloin steak accompanied by creamy mashed potatoes and peppercorn sauce, paired with a crisp white wine. Nestled amongst crackling log fires, one could easily lose track of time and remain at The Hawthorn until the early hours.

However, the sumptuous bed at Holdsworth House beckoned.

A fireside cuppa became our next destination, where we were treated to tales of The Beatles' 1964 visit. They were swiftly succeeded by luminaries including Cliff Richard, Florence and the Machine, and James Norton.

Bedtime arrived, offering a moment to reflect upon the day's adventures. As slumber approached, I found myself drifting into dreams filled with brooding moorlands and the spectral silhouette of a woman tapping at the windowpane.
