Presenter Tim Shaw has carved out a successful career with numerous radio and TV shows, but he's best known for his work on Car SOS.

The beloved motoring series, which broadcasts on the National Geographic Channel and Channel 4, launched in 2013 with Tim and Fuzz Townshend leading the charge, featuring car restoration experts reviving owners' classic cars.

The show has been a massive hit with audiences, who are captivated by both the retro vehicles and the bond between Tim and Fuzz, reports Wales Online.

But what do we know about the star's life away from the camera?

Tim first made a name for himself in radio, hosting shows on various stations and often spending his earnings on restoring classic cars.

He later transitioned to television, with programmes including Extreme Male Beauty and The Cars That Made Britain Great.

However, it was Fifth Gear that truly catapulted him into the public eye, as Tim became a familiar face to TV viewers when he secured a presenting role on the Channel 5 programme in 2008.

Tim's interests extend beyond car engines, as he also has a passion for product design and mechanical engineering.

At just 16, he won a Young Engineer of the Year award for inventing a collapsible rolling walking aid for the elderly, and he subsequently studied engineering at university.

The star tends to keep his personal life private, but it is known that he wed his wife Hayley in 1999. The couple have two children together.

In 2005, Hayley auctioned off her husband's Lotus Esprit on eBay for a mere 50p.

The luxury vehicle, valued around £25,000, was listed on the online marketplace after her spouse jokingly declared on air that he would abandon his family for model Jodie Marsh.

The listing read: "I need to get rid of this car in the next two to three hours before my husband gets home to find it gone and all his belongings in the street."

Since its inception in 2013, Car SOS has seen Tim and his co-host Fuzz Townshend form a strong camaraderie.

Discussing their friendship and the show's charm, Tim once told the Express: "The secret is ultimately we're a pair of old, soft g*ts. This is a car show but it's also actually not, it kinda hurts me to say that in a way, because this is a show about people and Fuzz and I care about people."

He added: "Ultimately, what drives us, the common goal, is the day of the reveal when we catch somebody out and we go, 'You've been Car SOS-ed.' That feeling, that look Fuzz and I give each other is that look that means everything."
