A chef has used his culinary expertise to outline a "hack" he believes is perfect when it comes to ordering from Nando's. The Portuguese chain is known for it's flame-grilled peri-peri chickenand has almost 500 restaurants across the UK.

Imran Ali, who is known as WhatInTheChef on social media, took to YouTube to reveal his top tip for those who can't decide what to order from the Nando's menu. "I just figured out the best Nando's hack," he began in a video, before gathering his friends and taking them to their local restaurant. There, Imran explained what he does when he has a hankering for both a chicken burger and chicken breast.

"I can get myself half a chicken and some chips with some garlic bread - and use one piece of chicken with the garlic bread to make a burger," he exclaimed.

  • Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda, Aldi considering new £2 rule for shoppers

Doing so left Imran with a second piece of chicken [from his half a chicken order] and the remaining chips, ultimately saving him £2.35.

Once the food came, Imran spread mayonnaise on the garlic bread before cutting up his chicken and placing it on the bread.

"A bit of sauce, put the top on and look at this... beautiful," he closed comparing it to a standard chicken burger. "Garlic chicken burger - this hack works so good. Wow."

Writing in response, one YouTube user shared their own tip. "You need to try this - half chicken, chips, coleslaw, halloumi side, and a tortilla wrap on the side," they wrote.

"Shred the chicken and make a wrap, you’ll have half your chips left a bit of chicken and some slaw left. Insane."

A second person admitted: "I use to work in Nando’s back in 2012, this is what I had for my break every shift (use to get free meal on every shift)."

A third shared: "I’ve been doing this for years - four thighs, garlic bread and Piri-Piri chips, then put the sauce on the garlic bread, and then ask for a bit of salad."

Whilst a fourth YouTube user added: "I've always used the garlic bread for a burger but you've got to get the thighs, by far the best bit of the chicken."

For those who have never enjoyed a Nando's, the company advises online: "Flame-grilled, juicy, spicy... there’s a reason Nando’s chicken is legendary.

"We marinate our chicken in PERi-PERi for 24 hours before it’s basted. All our sauces, bastes and marinades are made with fresh, real ingredients and have no artificial flavours or colourants.

"We flame-grill because it reduces the fat content and regular basting is what keeps it so succulent."
