An American YouTuber who has explored all 54 African nations has revealed his top three favourites, while offering travel guidance and practical tips for those keen to visit the continent. Content creator Drew Binsky has visited all 197 countries, completing his global journey with a trip to Saudi Arabia in 2021.

Having recently visited Australia and New Zealand with his parents, Drew has travelled across every African country and has given a brief overview of his five favourite destinations.

Drew suggested that his selections might surprise anyone considering African travel, noting: "It might even make you book a flight out here to experience the adrenaline rush for yourself." Tanzania emerged as his top African destination, with Drew praising the Hadzabe tribe as the "coolest people ever."

Ethiopia secured second place, with Drew declaring he was "obsessed" with the country, while Namibia rounded out the top three.

The East African nation of Tanzania, home to more than 66 million people, topped Drew's African rankings, and the footage makes it clear why. Drew revealed this was his fourth visit to the country, confessing: "I could not get enough of this place right now," reports the Express.

Following time spent with the Hadzabe, one of the last remaining hunter-gatherer communities in Africa, Drew explored Serengeti National Park, witnessing the zebra and wildebeest migration. His journey then took him to the renowned Ngorongoro Crater in northern Tanzania, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

He remarked: "I've never seen a crater in my life that's this big. I mean, it goes on forever."

Drew also visited Mount Kilimanjaro, the world's tallest free-standing mountain, before heading to Zanzibar, which he described as having some of the "most beautiful beaches in the world."

He added: "If you can only visit one country in Africa, let it be Tanzania. It's safe, the streets are clean, there are no scams here, everyone's super nice, they speak English-you will absolutely love it."

Ethiopia

Ethiopia, home to over 128 million people, came in second on Drew's ranking. He praised the country's "many amazing cultures" and revealed he has made nine trips there, encouraging travellers to explore beyond the capital city of Addis Ababa.

Drew highlighted destinations such as Dire Dawa in the east and the historic city of Harar, a UNESCO-designated site rich in Somali culture.

He commented: "You have Lalibela, which is an amazing ancient Christian rock formation. And speaking of religion, Ethiopia is split between Islam and Christianity, and they have a really interesting branch of Christianity that's really unique."

The YouTuber also visited Tigray in northern Ethiopia, hiking to churches carved into the mountainsides. His travels included a stop at the town of Gandha, known for its significant Jewish population, and a visit to the Omo Valley in southwestern Ethiopia, home to "some of the most incredible tribes in the world with fascinating traditions."

He enthused: "Ethiopia has the best food in Africa. The best coffee in the world is there. I can go on and on about Ethiopia."

Namibia

Rounding off Drew's top three was Namibia, a nation of just under 3 million people in southwest Africa. It is the second least densely populated country in the world, after Mongolia.

Drew shared: "It's one of the only places in the world where you can find beautiful sand dunes that intersect exactly with the ocean. Now I can finally see why everyone always falls in love with Namibia-this place is as good as it gets."

His Namibian adventure included a trip to Etosha National Park before visiting Windhoek, which he described as a "cool capital city." He added: "The people are so lovely and friendly, they speak great English."

Finally, Drew explored Sossusvlei, praising its "incredible nature" and the sight of trees emerging from the sand dunes. He continued: "And of course, you have the Himba tribe near the Angola border in Namibia. They have the clay hair, and they're just so cool. I really love visiting the tribes in Africa-it's so enriching and so amazing to appreciate their cultures and traditions."
