Actor Thalapathy Vijay: Tamil cinema superstar Thalapathy Vijay has been in the news for a long time about his upcoming film Jana Neta (Jana Nayagan). The matter of getting censor certificate for his film is stuck. On January 27, the Madras High Court had canceled the decision of the single judge, in which the Censor Board was asked to give certificate to his film. Also, this matter was sent back to the single bench. Now Vijay has got another big blow from Madras High Court. He will have to pay a fine of Rs 1.5 crore. However, this matter is not related to his film but is related to the fine imposed by the Income Tax Department.
Thalapathi VijHe had filed a petition in the Madras High Court challenging the order of the Income Tax Department, in which he was asked to pay a fine of Rs 1.5 crore. The High Court has rejected his petition. According to the Income Tax Department, Vijay had not disclosed income of Rs 15 crore during the financial year 2015-16. After being fined, he had reached the High Court, but he has not got any relief.
Rejecting Vijay's plea, Justice Senthilkumar Ramamurthy said that the order imposing the fine was passed within the stipulated time. Therefore, there is nothing in it on the basis of which the order should be interfered with. The lawyer appearing on behalf of Vijay requested for permission to challenge the order. On this the judge said that the petitioner has the right to challenge the order before the appellate authority.
