Bengaluru Metro Fare Price Hikes: If you travel by Bengaluru Metro daily, your expenses are about to increase from February 9th. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced an annual fare hike. Passengers using Namma Metro will have to pay more from February 9, 2026. Under the new rates, ticket prices will increase by Re 1 to Rs 5 depending on the distance traveled.
Why is the fare being increased?
This fare increase is being implemented following the recommendations of the First Fare Fixation Committee (FFC). The committee suggested that small increases be made to the fare every year to avoid a large increase all at once. BMRCL says that this system allows for a gradual increase in fares, preventing a sudden burden on passengers and making metro travel more convenient and predictable. In its statement, BMRCL said, "As per the mandatory recommendations of the FFC, the annual automatic fare revision will be implemented from February 9, 2026. This is being done one year after the previous fare increase, which took place on February 9, 2025."
