Tezzbuzz Desk- Every year, Valentine’s Week starts from 7th February with Rose Day and this love filled week ends on 14th February with Valentine’s Day. The second day of this romantic week is Propose Day, which is considered most special for expressing the feelings of your heart. On this day people express their love to their partner and give a new direction to the relationship.
Propose Day is celebrated on the second day of Valentine’s Week i.e. 8th February. This day is especially important for those people who love someone but have not been able to express their feelings till now.
As the name suggests, Propose Day means expressing your feelings to someone. On this day you take the initiative to take your relationship forward. If you are in a relationship, you can refresh old moments by proposing again on this day. If you have made up your mind to get married, then 8th February is considered auspicious for this too. This day further strengthens trust, commitment and love in a relationship.
The origin of Valentine’s Day is believed to be from the third century. The most popular story is that of Saint Valentine, who was a priest. Roman Emperor Claudius II is said to have banned soldiers from marrying because he believed that love and marriage weakened soldiers.
Despite this order, Saint Valentine got the soldiers married. Considering this as disobeying the order, he was imprisoned and hanged on 14 February. In his memory, this day became dedicated to those in love and gradually Valentine’s Day started taking the form of a festival. Later, days like Rose Day, Propose Day, Chocolate Day also became a part of this week.
There is no official or concrete historical information available about Propose Day. However, there is an interesting story about the tradition of proposing with a ring. It is said that in 1477, Archduke Maximilian of Austria proposed to Mary of Burgundy with a diamond ring. After this, the tradition of giving rings in engagement became popular and with time it became a symbol of expression of love, which is still adopted on special occasions like Propose Day.
There are no fixed rules for celebrating propose day. Neither expensive gifts nor big events are necessary, all that is required is your true feelings and a little courage to express them. You can take your partner to their favorite place, spend quality time with them and make them feel how special they are to you.
Propose Day is the day to start a new chapter for those relationships where love is there but is yet to be expressed. Right time, right feeling and true emotion – this is the real beauty of this day.
