The season may still have more than three months left to run but big decisions are already being discussed at Liverpool. Following lavish summer spending, the Reds will be looking to avoid repeating the mistakes that have led to such a disappointing title defence.
That said, there is plenty left to play for. Securing Champions League qualification is a minimum requirement, while Arne Slot's side remain contenders in UEFA's top club competition. FA Cup success would also be a welcome bonus.
Looking longer term, the Reds are weighing up the futures of a number of players, including some whose contracts expire in just a few months. Here's a round-up of the latest Liverpool news…
Bumper pay riseThe Reds are reportedly close to rewarding Dominik Szoboszlai, who is halfway through a five-year deal, for his excellent season with a bumper new contract.

Szoboszlai, who has been pressed into right-back duty due to a defensive injury crisis, has been one of Slot's standout performers. The Hungarian, 25, has insisted he is keen to stay and talks have been going on for some time.
According to several reports, those talks are close to a breakthrough, which would see Szoboszlai become one of the club's highest-paid players on around £250,000 per week.

Szoboszlai has made it clear, though, that he doesn't see right-back as his long-term position and would like to return to midfield. He said recently: "Not long-term, not even medium-term to be honest in my head.
"As I've said before I'm a midfielder and hopefully our right-back is going to come back from injury and I can get back in the middle."
Real in Konate U-turnSpeculation linking Real Madrid with Ibrahima Konate just won't go away.
It was reported at the end of last year that the Spanish giants had withdrawn their interest in the French defender, whose contract expires at the end of the season. However, ESPN have reported that Real remain interested in Konate, who remains in talks with Liverpool over a new contract.
Speaking ahead of Sunday's game against Manchester City, Slot said dialogue between the club and Konate's representatives was ongoing.
With a deal for him to stay at Anfield apparently not close to being agreed, Real Madrid have every opportunity to pounce, given they are now free to talk to the player, strengthening Konate's negotiating position.
