A popular fashion retailer has fallen into administration with a huge 400 jobs at risk. The high street brand has 40 locations across the UK as well as some stores in Ireland.

Quiz is known for its dresses and women's clothing. Its administrators were appointed on February 5 and these will be Alistair McAliden and Geoff Jacobs of Interpath. There will be 109 redundancies across Quiz's office which are effective immediately. There will also be 408 members of staff at risk of redundancy.

On February 5, Quiz's website stopped trading. The chain employs around 565 people, with 40 stores in the UK. It bills itself as catering to 16 to 35-year-old "fashion forward females."

Its administrators say "changing consumer habits, government budget disruption around peak Black Friday trade, cost pressures from business rates and increases in national minimum wage and NI" led to administration.

Quiz has launched a clearance sale on stock.

According to reports, Quiz were approached by "several turnaround funds" seeking to provide them with cash. At its peak, Quiz had a huge 300 stores.

Quiz listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2017, raising more than £100m.

It went into administration in 2020, and again less than a year ago in February 2025. Since then, it has struggled to beat financial difficulties.

Administrators said the company, which was founded in 1993, had been struggling over the past year, culminating in poorer-than-expected sales over the Christmas period.

A message on Quiz's website states: "QUIZ is currently offline. Our stores will remain open for a period of time. We are grateful to everyone that has supported us over the years."

Customers should note that returns won't be refunded, exchanges are only for faulty items, and all gift cards are now invalid.
