Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday termed Uttar Pradesh's 2026-27 budget as the "farewell budget" of the Yogi Adityanath government and said that the ruling BJP will be out of power after the 2027 assembly elections.

At a press conference in Lucknow soon after the state government presented the budget in the Assembly, Akhilesh Yadav said that the government says that its budget has exceeded Rs 9 lakh crore and calls it an achievement.

Akhilesh Yadav Said that it is generally believed that every budget is bigger than the previous one. The real question is how much of it is actually spent.

50 percent of allocated budget not utilized

Akhilesh Yadav alleged that on average, the government has failed to utilize even 50 percent of its allocation. He said that if the expenditure is so big, then why is the government not able to spend it? This shows the failure of the government.

Citing figures of different departments, Akhilesh Yadav claimed that only 57 percent was spent on agriculture, 36 percent on rural development, about 60 percent on animal husbandry, 58 percent on health and 53 percent on women's welfare.
