Gurbaz played an explosive inning of 84 runs in just 42 balls with the help of 7 sixes and 4 fours. Maharaj not only took no wicket but also spent only 27 runs in 4 overs.
After the match was tied, the first super over was played, in which Afghanistan scored 17 runs and in reply South Africa also scored 17 runs. In such a situation, the matter reached the second super over, in which South Africa scored 23 runs. Now Afghanistan needed 24 runs and South African captain Aiden Markram played a big gamble and handed the ball to Maharaj. But after this the drama increased further because Rahmanullah Gurbaz came to bat. Afghanistan needed 24 runs in 4 balls i.e. 4 consecutive sixes. Once again Gurbaz and Maharaj were face to face. The Afghan batsman had made the impossible almost possible by hitting 3 consecutive sixes. Now 6 runs were needed on the last ball and the pressure was on Maharaj. Due to this he bowled a wide.
