The notification for the NEET UG exam has been released. The application process has begun, and candidates can fill out the form by visiting the official website, neet.nta.nic.in. Application forms will be available until March 8th. This year, the registration process is very strict. Each candidate's identity will be verified at multiple levels to ensure a fair examination.
Aadhaar-based e-KYC has been made mandatory for NEET UG applications this year. Candidates must ensure that the mobile number linked to their Aadhaar card is active.
Cannot fill the form without a live photo.
NTA has advised that mobile network availability be checked before starting the application, as OTP-based verification will be required during the verification process. Another major change in the NEET UG 2026 application relates to live photo capture. Candidates will now be required to capture their photo in real time while filling out the form. The face in the photo must be clearly visible in approximately 80 percent of the frame.
How to upload a photo?
The NTA has instructed that candidates should not wear caps, glasses, or goggles while taking photos, to ensure accurate matching of the photo with the Aadhaar database. Candidates who do not have a webcam can upload their photos using a mobile camera by scanning a QR code.
In addition, it is mandatory to upload a passport-sized photo, a scanned signature, address proof, and other required documents during the application. Identity will be verified by matching the live photo with the Aadhaar record.
The NTA has clarified that the new guidelines have been implemented to enhance the credibility of the exam. In light of complaints of duplicate registrations, identity verification errors, and cheating in previous years, the application process has been made more stringent.
Also, keep an eye on the syllabus.
The NEET UG syllabus 2026 is primarily based on the NCERT's 11th and 12th-grade Physics, Chemistry, and Biology subjects. There will be 90 questions from Biology, 45 each from Physics and Chemistry (a total of 180 MCQs). Topics removed from the new NCERT textbooks may also be asked in the NEET UG exam, so students will need to study both the new NCERT textbooks and the old ones. Candidates should consult the official syllabus released by the NMC.
