A bizarre incident in Uttar Pradesh’s Auraiya district triggered panic, superstition, and wild rumours after a young woman suddenly went missing from her home. The situation escalated when her family discovered a five-foot-long snake skin wrapped in clothes and placed on her bed — leading some villagers to speculate that she had “turned into a naagin.”

However, a police investigation later revealed that the truth behind the disappearance was far from supernatural — though equally startling.

How the Incident Unfolded

The matter came to light when the woman did not step out of her room in the morning. Worried family members entered her room and were shocked to find a long snake’s shed skin on her bed.

The unusual sight sparked fear across the village. Some residents believed she had fallen victim to a mysterious occurrence, while others spread rumours that she had transformed into a serpent. As panic mounted, the family dialed 112 and informed the police.

Police Investigation and Revelation

Upon examining the scene, police suspected the incident was not accidental. During the probe, officers learned that the woman was allegedly in a relationship with a young man from the same village and had planned her disappearance in advance.

Investigators revealed that she had deliberately placed the snake skin on her bed to create a dramatic and misleading scenario, diverting suspicion and fueling supernatural rumours. After staging the scene, she reportedly left home quietly with her partner.

Station House Officer Ajay Kumar said, “The entire episode was like a film script. The woman intentionally left the snake skin behind to mislead people. Her mobile phone is under surveillance, and efforts are underway to trace her.”

Following the police findings, the family formally lodged a missing person complaint. Based on the complaint, a case has been registered against unknown persons, and a search operation is ongoing.

Rumours Subside

Officials confirmed that the ‘naagin’ rumours that had spread through the village have now subsided. Meanwhile, police teams continue technical surveillance to locate the woman and ascertain further details.
